Business email on a Squarespace domain (formerly Google Domains)

Domains from Google Domains moved to Squarespace. Here's how to remove the Google Workspace mail preset and add SyncGaze Mail's records instead.

The records SyncGaze needs

Open dashboard.syncgaze.in → Domains → your domain. It lists these records with your exact values and a Copy button next to each. The table shows what they look like for yourcompany.com.

TypeName / HostValueWhy
TXT_syncgaze-verifysyncgaze-verify=… (from your dashboard)Proves you own the domain
MX@mail.syncgaze.in · priority 10Delivers your mail to SyncGaze
TXT@v=spf1 mx a:mail.syncgaze.in ip4:157.173.222.40 ~allSPF: lets SyncGaze send as you
TXTdkim._domainkeyv=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=… (your own key, from the dashboard)DKIM: signs your mail
TXT_dmarcv=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:dmarc@syncgaze.inDMARC: stops people faking your address

Only one MX provider and one SPF recordDelete any other MX records, so mail doesn't keep going to your old provider. A domain can have only one TXT record starting with v=spf1. If one already exists, replace it, or merge the two.

Step by step in Squarespace Domains

  1. Sign in at account.squarespace.com/domains and click your domain. Then open DNS → DNS Settings.
  2. Under Google Workspace or another mail preset, click the bin icon to delete the whole preset. That removes the old Google MX records.
  3. Under Custom records, click Add record. Choose type MX, Host @, Priority 10, Data mail.syncgaze.in.
  4. Add the four TXT records from the table, with Host _syncgaze-verify, @, dkim._domainkey and _dmarc.

Squarespace-specific problems

  • Mail still goes to Gmail. The Google Workspace preset is still there. Presets aren't listed as custom records, so check the presets section.
  • Two SPF records. A preset may have added include:_spf.google.com. Keep only one v=spf1 record.

Verify and test

  1. Wait 5–30 minutes after saving. Most changes show up within minutes, but some take up to a few hours.
  2. Go back to dashboard.syncgaze.in → Domains and click Verify. Each record turns green when SyncGaze can see it.
  3. Run a free check on mail.syncgaze.in/check. It reads your MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records and explains anything still missing.
  4. Send a test email to a Gmail address and open Show original. It should show SPF: PASS, DKIM: PASS and DMARC: PASS.
